It’s Time to Get in Shape – Let’s Start Today!

Like most seniors, you may be asking yourself questions like, “I haven’t exercised in years. Isn’t it too late to start now?” or “How many minutes per week should I exercise?”
These days gender, social class, ethnic background, and age do not prevent a person from enjoying and succeeding in sports or physical activity. The amount of time a person persuing senior fitness should devote to exercise varies among individuals. It is dependent upon many factors such as the type of activity, the intensity level of the activity, and your individual goals and abilities. Together we will work to set an appropriate workout and nutrition program for you; one that you can stick to and succeed on reaching your goals. I will help guide you through the confusing fitness information to a healthier and happier lifestyle.
A professionally guided senior fitness program minimizes risks of diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, back pain, and coronary heart disease and puts you back on track to good health. Even if you are suffering from one of these ailments, a exercise program combined with proper nutrition may help improve your health and increase your mobility.

When Martin Mark talks to other seniors about lifting weights, he hears two main objections. They think they’re too old to handle it. Or that they will become muscle-bound.
Neither is true. Many studies show that seniors can safely lift weights ? and that even light lifting strengthens the heart, lungs, bones and muscles, and keeps people living independently. Plus, there’s little chance a senior could ever become over-muscled, said Mark, a Pompano Beach fitness trainer.
Rather, exercise can heal. One of Mark’s clients, Boca Raton retiree Edward Salloom, thought he would never walk again after two falls. He started a weight-training program with Mark and was back on his feet in a few months.
